The international seminar for tourism professionals “Buy Latvia. Buy the Baltics 2008” by Latvian Tourism Development Agency (LTDA) has created enormous interest from companies in the Baltic States and from foreign tour operators, proving that such a project is an essential step in generating future business prospects and accelerating tourism development in the Baltics.
“Buy Latvia. Buy the Baltics 2008” is the year's largest event for tourism professionals in the Baltic States that offers the opportunity to get to know the major tourism products and services and meet Baltic tourism operators and agents in an organized contacts exchange. The main goal of this event is to promote the inclusion of the Baltics as an important travel destination in the international tourism market. This year the scope of this event has expanded, offering participants the opportunity to not only learn about Latvia's tourism attractions but also explore the tourist sights in Lithuania and Estonia. Even though the registration process has not ended, already more than 200 participants have signed up from such nations as Great Britain, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus, Israel, Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Austria, Ireland, France and from more exotic places like India, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan. It is exciting to see that such major tourism operators as “TUI Deutschland” (Germany), “Railtour” (Switzerland), “Dane Travel” (Denmark), “Linda Line” (Finland), “Kandagar” (Ukraine), “Latinserviss 2000” (Belarus) etc. have also signed up for the event. According to LTDA director Uldis Vitolins, the enormous interest in the event attests to the fact that the Baltic States have become an attractive travel destination for many foreign tourists.
