The history of Vilnius University began in the Old City, where currently there are 12 university buildings.
The university library is of particular interest, which was established only one year after the famous Oxford library. It consists of several halls uniting different architectural styles.
Some of the famous university graduates are: Taras Shevchenko, Yanka Kupala, Adam Mickevich, and Julius Slovacky.
