The first campsite in Vilnius will open at the beginning of June.
Jolanta Beniuliene, director of the Lithuanian capital's Tourist Information Centre, said that Vilnius desperately needs a campsite; until now, the centre had to send camping tourists to Trakai. There will be 70 places for caravans and 30 places for tents on a site of almost one hectare. Beniuliene adds that this may well not be enough and there could be more sites in future. German and Polish tourists are especially interested in campsites, and the new Vilnius campsite will meet the 2-star classification standards. There are only 14 campsites in Lithuania.
