Рига готовится к Рождеству [2005-12-09]<br><br>Остались считанные дни до светлых и любимых праздников: Рождества и Нового Года. Рига по традиции украсилась в огни, город наводнили многочисленные сказочные гномы, на площадях зажглись рождественские елки, витрины магазинов и кафе манят внутрь.

Yes, Christmas in Riga feels like big holiday, but in Los Angeles it is only an extra day off. Latvians remember, if, any of you make a decision to move out, for example in US, for living, you are going to lose an opportunity to have a such beautiful holidays as Christmas and New Year as in Latvia. I was born in Riga and I am missing my motherland a lot. I left my little and beautiful city in January 1997. Since that time I was visiting Riga in 1999, in 2001 and in 2004 and I hope again and again and again. Thanks to Internet, this is excellent way to virtual travel in the city of your childhood being far away from it. My request to residents of Riga - please, make more pictures of Riga and put them on Internet. I am intersting in pictures of New Riga, I mend those objects which were bilt after my last visit, in 2004. Because of, I had been living in Pardaugava since I was born until I left Latvia in 1997, I am intersting also in pictures of Left Coast of Daugava. Thank You.
P.S. I am sorry if it is hard for you to read and understand english, but for me now, after nine years living in LA, it is easier to express myself and type on computer. I hope, somebody will understand english and all my message.

I totally agree with the previous comment! I also lived in Riga until 1991, and lately I have been visiting Latvia almost every year. It's my favorite holiday destination, and not just because of nostalgia, but because Riga is really a city to admire!!! My American friends have been quite impressed when they visited Riga, and I felt proud There are lots of things that need improvement, but I'm optimistic! Things will get better... Vsem rizhanam privet i otlichnoe nastroenie!!! Visiem riidziniekiem - miilu sveicienu un labu garastavokli!!!
