Niguliste Church - is the only sacral building in Downtown that avoided the destruction caused by the Lutheran Reformation of 1523, as a cunning parochial headman ordered to lead all church’s door-locks, which prevented the furious mob from getting inside.
A famous painting of lubec painter Berndt Notke – “the Dance of Death”, one fragment of which is exhibited in St. Antonio’s chapel, calls for extra attention. Niguliste Church also is known for its good acoustics and organ concerts are often there.
