The first Munchhausen Museum is situated in Germany. The second one - in Dunte, in renovated manor house where, together with his wife Jacobine, once lived real baron Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Munchhausen - prototype of the famous literary character.
Exposition contains materials telling about adventures of Munchhausen in Dunte, household items of the XVIII century. Visitors can examine boudoir of the baroness, the baron’s study with hunting trophies and exhibits proving heroic deeds of the master.
On the second floor of the manor there is an exhibition of wax figurines of outstanding persons in the history of Latvia - from Duke Jacob to modern-time composer Raimond Pauls.
Munchhausen Trail is 5.3 km long, it is equipped with wooden bridges, sites for rest and wooden figurines of characters from the baron’s tales. It leads to the sea-shore. It takes one hour and a half to go along the whole trail.
