Riga in 1910

"About a year ago, while conducting a reasearch of the history of Riga in a library, I came asross an album dedicated to "the visit of his majesty the Emperor Nicholas I in Riga" dated 1910." This is the way this story whould begin. The fact is that the album really exists, althoug it is rather shabby (which you can see, taking a look at the large pictures, - we've carefully retained all the stains :)), and is kindly given to us by A. Milovsky. The first impression you get from the preview - it all remained the same! Not only the walls, but also the predestination of most of the buildings has merely changed, though almost a century has gone by - incredible! Here's an advice - load the large photos (size - under 150 Kb, dimensions - 1000x725 Pix) and read the vast descriptions - it's very interesting and cognitive. And so it is 1910, the revolution of 1905-07 has recently ended. WW1 is going to start in 4 years, the revolution in Russia - in 7 years and Latvia will become an independent coundty de-facto in 10 years.
