Here we present the main attractions of Latvia. Quite a lot of them can be found in Riga and its Old Town though many attractions are outside the capital of Latvia.
In addition to the “official” must-see list which is repeated with certain variations in all tourist guides and publications, we offer a list of interesting places that cannot be reckoned as attractions but still they deserve to be visited and doing so you make your trip more diverse.
Castles and manors remained since the times of the Livonian Order, German barons and Russian Empire can be found in every corner of Latvia. Some of them have museums, hotels, restaurant, modern conference halls, others are interesting merely as architectural monuments.
For the sake of convenience we divided all museums of Riga and Latvia into the main (the most interesting) ones and others - devoted to narrower specialized topics. We should mention here that this is our own classification and it does not claim to be absolutely impartial.
Apart from museums entertainment activities involving making something by your own hands - for example: to mint coins, to shoot a bow, to bake bread or cookies - are becoming more and more popular. As a rule participation in such interactive shows and excursions requires either forming a group and booking in advance or you can order such excursion via travel agency.
Beautiful view of the city and its panoramic postcard photos are the most prized trophy of every tourist. In this section we suggest places with the best views of Riga.
