Compared to other European countries it is still rather easy to get fishing or hunting permit in Latvia. You can find detailed information, as well as hunting offers on the official website Latvijas valsts mezi (National Forestry Service). Permitted hunting seasons are displayed there as well.
There are a lot of private lakes in Latvia, where you can fish if you pay to the owner.
While fishing it is very important to obey to the rules of fishing, regulations of licensed fishing, and instructions of the supervisor (if the lake is private and has a supervisor). The quota of the catch is stated in the Rules of fishing.
